Friday July 31st, 2009 19:00 Crystal Pacifer by Aristabrat

For any parent with an infant or toddler, a pacifier can be a blessing and your worst nightmare. In times when your little one may not be able to

Aristabrat Crystal Pacifier

settle themselves down, pacifiers seem to work their magic instantly. Thank goodness!

In other times, it can be your worst nightmare. For example – when you can’t find a pacifier at all or when you have lost their favorite binky and according to your crying baby no other one will do. And it can be especially problematic when you are trying to ween your little one off the pacifier’s magical spell.

During the tumultuous times of your little one having a meltdown and you feel as though your head will jump off your body, take a nap and never return, a little humor to lighten the mood may help. The Aristabrat Crystal Pacifier incorporates a bit of fun by extravagantly adorning the typical pacifier with colorful Swarovski crystals and a mad face that will make any baby, parent and passerbys put a smile on their face. Available in blue and pink.

Price: $120.

Thursday July 30th, 2009 05:27 Madoff Man Stays Afloat

ANDRES Piedrahita — one of Walter Noel‘s sons-in-law who funneled $7.5 billion of their clients’ dough down the Bernie Madoff sinkhole — isn’t crying over spilt milk. The Colombian co-founder of Fairfield Greenwich and his wife, Corina Noel, took possession last month of a $22 million yacht, Oxygen, and they’ve been cruising the Mediterranean ever since, Vicky Ward reports on the Huffington Post.

Ward calls the “ostentatious act stupid, shameless, and deeply offensive to all those ruined by the Fairfield Greenwich investment group.” But a lawyer for Fairfield Greenwich, Thomas Mulligan, told us Piedrahita couldn’t cancel the purchase of the boat. “Mr. Piedrahita is attempting to sell the yacht and has been on the yacht with prospective buyers,” Mulligan said. “When the yacht is sold, the proceeds will go into a settlement pool in case of a settlement with Irving Picard, the Madoff bankruptcy trustee.”

Wednesday July 29th, 2009 19:01 50-Year-Old Scotch by Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich 50-year old scotch

Glenfiddich 50-year old scotch

Another very expensive whisky has hit the market.

William Grant & Sons Distillers Ltd. have released a 50-year aged version of Glenfiddich that will sell for $16,000.

The Glenfiddich 50 Year Old will be limited to 500 individually numbered, hand-blown glass bottles with decoration in Scottish silver. The bottles will be packaged in leather-bound cases, each accompanied by a book and a signed certificate.

In order to qualify as a 50-year-old whisky it must sit in its barrel unmixed with any other malt for the entire time. Some of the liquor evaporates over time (the “angel’s share”) making aging particularly challenging. Getting your hands on this well-aged treat will be no easy task. The 50- year will be distributed in 50-bottle lots over 10 years. The botlles will first be sold in selected airports and then be sold to a small number of retailers.

Monday July 27th, 2009 19:20 1800 Tequila introduces Select Silver

Not too long ago it was rare to meet those who considered themselves connoisseurs of tequila — a drink known more for body shots and the

1800 Tequilla Select Silver

occasional blackout. However, with the recent openings of tequila-only bars on East Coast and West, The Age of Agave could be upon us.

Enter 1800 Select Silver, a partially aged and double-distilled firewater that is the only 100-proof silver tequila in the world. Smooth on the way in, it fills the taste buds with fruit-tinged agave flavor before a soft finish. In fact, being easy to imbibe and 25 percent stronger than other silvers, in the wrong hands it could be too good — it is, after all, still tequila.

It is also the world’s only tequila to come with a ManCave. Until August 15, you can throw your name in the sombrero at www.1800tequila.com/mancave, and get a shot at winning $10,000 to create the ultimate hangout spot. Even though it’s called a cave for men, we’ve met more than a few women hale enough to send us packing when the tequila flowed, so anyone should feel free to enter. And if you win, don’t be surprised if we ask to come over…

Sunday July 26th, 2009 19:27 Harley-Davidson Launches New 2010 Motorcycle Lineup

Harley-Davidson 2010 motorcycles

Harley-Davidson 2010 motorcycles

Harley-Davidson has rolled out its revised line of motorcycles for 2010, and according to the Motor Company, the nine new models included in this year’s catalog represent the largest number of introductions in the company’s 106-year history. There aren’t any new platforms for 2010, so expect to see small, incremental changes and improvements across the board in lieu of anything particularly radical.

A few of the highlights include four new models from Harley-Davidson’s Custom Vehicle Operations group: CVO Fat Bob, CVO Softail Convertible, CVO Street Glide and CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide. As you would expect from Harley’s upper-crust division, prices for these top-end models range from $25,299 to $35,999. At the other end of the spectrum, HD also points out it has a total of five models priced under $10K. Naturally, there’s plenty in between those opposing price brackets for fans of the good ‘ol American V-Twin to choose from.

Check out our photo gallery of the nine new models below and click past the break for the full rundown of all the goods from HD’s official press release.

Thursday July 23rd, 2009 12:23 The Ultimate Custom Billiard Tables

Have you ever fancied having a billiard table mounted on a saltwater aquarium?

Hurricane Custom Billiards

Hurricane Custom Billiards

How about with a big base filled with penny candy and fuchsia felt covering the surface?

Regardless of what captures your imagination  chances are Hurricane Custom Billiards in south Florida can get you set up in style.

Case and point:  Unique Autosports South is base in Miami and wanted something sufficiently decadent for their showroom.  HCB fashioned a table out of chromed steel and mounted in on low-profile tires with giant rims.  The surface is covered with black felt (no word if it’s more heavy on the wool or nylon to determine the speed), and polished it off with fiberoptics that can display up to 1,000 colours.

Tuesday July 21st, 2009 14:00 The Priciest Alfa Romeo Ever

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider.

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider.

Typically Alfa Romeo positions their models to be competitively priced and the company has a good reputation as it’s owned by the same parent company as Ferrari and Maserati.  However, the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione had a limited production number of just 500 and they literally sped out of the dealerships.

Word is that there are 500 more to come that could be even more posh.

The second run will be convertible 8C Spiders.  If you are in the U.S., we wish you luck in acquiring one because only 35 are destined for these shores — oh yes, at a price of $299,000 each.

But in the age old story of supply/demand, we know that they will be gone at the snap of your fingers.

Exotic cars are much like computers:  Wait 6 months and something more powerful and dynamic will be on the market.

Ferrari has revised the 599 HGTE which was upgraded from the existing 599 GTB Fiorano.  The HGTE packages was first shown at Geneva and showcased improvements in the performance, handling, and styling.  Yet, rather than dangling this prize like a carrot before the noses of existing Ferrari owners, the manufacturer is making the HGTE package available to them and their luxury V12′s.

First launched in the U.K., the packages can be had for £17,213 and has a completely revised suspension, tires with better grips, and new exhaust system.

For owners of models equipped with the F1-derived sequential gearbox, you will need to budget an additional £2490 to handle the upgrades to the transmission shift times and throttle response.

Oh, and don’t plan on this being a weekend adventure for you and your daring garage monkey friends.  The kit should be installed by a certified Ferrari dealer!
