World’s Most Expensive UK Apartment $221 Million

The UK’s most expensive apartment has finally been sold, though the deal was made back in 2007, the paperwork was only just now filed.

The buyer has reportedly spent another £60 million , or about $97.6 million, on interior work.
It’s in the world’s most expensive residential development , the One Hyde Park complex in London. This place is the project of Christan and Nick Candy and includes a movie room, bulletproof glass, and–as reported by The Daily Telegraph–”a private underground tunnel to the Mandarin Oriental [hotel] next door which gives open access to the five-star facilities and allows a 60-strong army of hotel staff to serve residents in their apartments 24 hours a day.”

Donald Trump Snatches Up Virginia Winery

Award-winning Charlottesville, Virginia-based Kluge Estate Winery and Vineyard was valued at over $70 million before the recession but so unfortunately lost most of its value after the financial crash.

Business mogul Donald Trump, of course, has taken advantage of the situation, purchasing the vineyard after it refused to sell at auction for the Farm Credit Bank’s opening bid of $19 million.

Trump, along with Virginia-based real estate developer Sal Cangiano, have purchased the winery at a foreclosure auction for $6.2 million, making this quite a steal. We’ll be looking forward to see what Trump decides to do with the winery and if there’s going to be a Trump Sauvignon coming up anytime soon…

Kate Middleton’s Childhood Home Up For Grabs

Located in the village south of Southend Bradfield, 48 miles west of London, Kate Middleton’s childhood home will soon be up for auction.

The current owners of the home are hoping to capitalize on the Royal Wedding by auctioning off the princess-to-be’s childhood home on June 3.

Called West View, this Victorian estate was home to Middleton for the first 13 years of her life and was Michael and Carole Middleton in 1979.

Features of the property include an entrance hall with Victorian tiled floor, two reception rooms, spacious kitchen, four bedrooms and a cozy family room. The estate will more than likely be auctioned for somewhere around $809,430.

Elin Nordegren Purchases $12.2 Million Estate, Next To Tiger

Tiger Woods’ ex-wife, Elin Nordegren has officially purchased the estate she’s been looking at for a while now in North Palm Beach, Florida.

The final sale price reportedly was $12.2 million which of course Elin can afford after her enormous $100 million settlement from the philandering golfer.

Interestingly enough, the 17,000 square-foot, two-story mansion is only ten miles from where Woods’ beach-front home in Jupiter Island which we guess is a good way for Tiger to see the kids, but still seems a little too close for comfort.

Aspen Named Most Expensive Town In the US

The Wall Street Journal is reporting today that ski resort area Aspen, Colorado is the most expensive US town.

Currently the lowest single-family property is listed on the market for $559,000 and guess what, it’s in a trailer park! Should have bought property in Aspen a long while ago, huh?

The average home price in the mountain town has increased over the past four years, to $6 million in 2010 from $5.4 million in 2006, according to multiple-listings data. The median price for single-family homes is now the highest in the country at $4.6 million, according to San Francisco-based Altos Research, surpassing the Hamptons, Beverly Hills and Palm Beach.

Sales of luxury Aspen estates — the sorts of over-the-top places with leather walls and outdoor heated infinity pools — have remained remarkably healthy, thanks in part to foreign buyers. Of the 25 real-estate transactions recorded by Pitkin County for the week of Jan. 19 to 25, five were buyers from abroad, including three Australians and people from Turkey and Hong Kong.

Dubai’s Tiger Woods-Branded Golf Development Halted

The construction of the Dubai Tiger Woods-branded golf residential complex has been halted due to poor market conditions in the Middle Eastern emirate.

Bloomberg News reported that the developer of the luxury properties, Dubai Properties, stopped construction of the 55 million square-foot project because of lack of demand.

While there is no word as of yet if construction will get back underway once the market strengthens, we’re fairly skeptical this golf complex will see the finished light of Dubai day.

Hundreds Line Up For Bernie Madoff Auction

Over the weekend Bernie Madoff was once more the reason hundreds of people parted with their hard-earned cash as the contents of two of the Ponzi-schemer’s homes went for auction.

Bidders lined up at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Manhattan to bid on luxury items from a Steinway piano, “BLM” embroidered slippers and even Bernie’s own underwear that went for $1700 surprisingly enough.

Even online bidders were at the ready for this infamous auction held Saturday that helped raise over $2 million for the victims fund.

American Idol Kelly Clarkson Lists Nashville Estate

Well it looks like American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson is on the move, listing her Nashville, Tennessee home on the luxury market.

The singing sensation purchased the southern estate back in 2007 for $1.49 million and is now asking $1.449 million for her upgraded home. At least Kelly knows the luxury housing market is still trying to get back on its feet.

Clarkson has upgraded the home since her purchase date with new stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, added plantation shutters, new hardwood flooring and some interesting paint choices throughout. Here’s wishing the star a quick sale.
