The rare Louis XIII Black Pearl cognac is priced around $40,000 and very hard to come by, especially in restaurants.  But now when you find yourself in Providence, Rhode Island you have nothing to worry about.

Cafe Nuovo is now offering their diners Louis XIII Black Pearl cognac if they so desire, a selling point indeed.  This 100+ year old wine is a collection of around 1,200 different brandies blended together in one single barrel and with plenty of palatable possibilities.

One shot of Black Pearl will cost you around $1500 if you’re not able to purchase the entire bottle.

Known as the first international superstar chef to open a restaurant in Canada, sadly Chef Daniel Boulud will have to now withdraw his title as he is having to close the Vancouver-located restaurant.

Opened just two years ago, Vancouver’s Lumière and db Bistro Moderne will be closing its doors on March 13.  The French chef, who also has restaurants in both NYC and London, has seen little success in Vancouver, with dining experts citing that the eatery was too much fine dining for the informal Vancouver laid-back foodie scene.

While Boulud is having to give up his Canadian dreams, the chef is doing quite well in New York, winning the James Beard Outstanding Restaurant Award for his restaurant Daniel.s.

56-year-old Frasier star Kelsey Grammer will soon be walking down the isle once again with 29-year-old fiance Kayte Walsh and we have the dish on the dishes.

This Friday Grammer and Walsh will say I do at the Plaza Hotel in New York with quite a lavish affair, including an extensive and expensive dinner menu for their wedding guests.

There will reportedly be two menu sets for the grand event, one for dinner and another menu for the after party, of course.  The two menus include a variety of wines and a premium open bar.

The fare includes assorted goat cheese truffles, slow roasted breast of turkey, King Oyster Mushroom Carpaccio, Lemon Truffle Vinaigrette, and lobster with corn and mango relish.

The wedding cake will be provided by Sylvia Weinstock, who is famously referred to as the “Queen of Wedding Cakes,” and has baked for the rich and famous, including Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper, Jane Fonda, and Alex Baldwin.

The price of dinner will cost Kelsey $215 per guest.

Man, too bad we turned down the invite, it would have been worth it just for the luxurious dinner fixings.

Usually when a whiskey sample goes missing, it’s not even noteworthy let alone newsworthy, but when it’s a $6,000 200ml sample of the world’s oldest bottle of Scotch whiskey, all of that changes.

The 70-year-old malt sample from the Mortlach distillery in Dufftown, Scotland was displayed at the recent Stockholm Beer & Whisky festival and mysteriously went missing.

The Swedish importer Symposion International was allocated two of the former and three of the later. They were displayed at the recent Stockholm Beer & Whisky festival, where one of the smaller bottles went missing. The distributor has appealed to the press (that’s us!) to help track down the rare bottle by publicizing the details of its disappearance: it went missing after the conclusion of the show, leading Symposion to surmise that whoever took it knew what s/he was looking for and had good knowledge of the exposition center where it was held.
